Leadership in LEAN style
The author of the book, Jim Lancaster, is the general director of the machine-building company Lantech, which in the 1990s was one of the leaders in the implementation of the concept of management based on reducing all types of losses. Like many other organizations working on the lin system, Lantech initially showed fantastic results. For example, the total production cycle for certain goods has been reduced from 14 weeks to 8 hours! But something was missing. From a financial point of view, the company did not show the results as expected. Successes from improvements gradually vanished, and processes returned to their previous state.

The key was to move from episodic improvements to continuous, continuous, day-to-day management of processes at the production site and immediate solution to the problems that arise on the conveyor. Jim realized that this is the work of every employee, including himself; that he has to support workers on a daily basis in the production line - where the real value is created.

This book is the sincere and insightful history of the leader, who managed to bring the company to a new level of development, achieve unprecedented returns and provide its business with the first positions on the market. You do not need expensive consultants to do the same. There are just eight steps to create a solid real-time control system. Jim Lancaster describes these steps in detail, illustrating them with examples from the life of their own company, as if they were taking a tour of it.

"This is a story I've been waiting for so long. Jim sincerely shares his mistakes, which, believe me, are inherent in most Ukrainian top managers.

The book clearly shows the transition from management in the style of "talented extinguishing fires" to create the conditions under which fires never arise. I advise this book to business owners, directors, departmental executives, all who are looking for clear benchmarks in the management of unstable processes who want to educate independent and proactive workers ", - suggests Sergey Komberyanov, President of the Lin Institute of Ukraine, who became the editor of the publication.
